The Selangor government has no time to entertain Parti Amanah Negara's displeasure over local council seats, a senior exco member said.
DAP Sungai Pinang assemblyperson Teng Chang Kim said the state government will not be affected if Amanah refuses to accept its eight local council seats either.
"The state government doesn't care if Amanah doesn't want to accept the eight local council seats. We will hand it all to PKR, PAS and DAP to run (the state) as before.
"We have no time for all of this. Plus we don't want to disrupt the daily affairs of the local councils. For now, they should just accept the eight seats and we hope Amanah will cooperate for the continuation of Pakatan Harapan," Teng told Sinar Harian today.
Teng's tongue-lashing comes amid calls by PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli for Selangor Pakatan Harapan not to fight publicly.
Amanah was allocated eight local council seats yesterday, but Selangor Amanah chairman Izham Hashim was quoted as saying that they have not decided whether or not to accept.
The party had originally asked for 24 out of the 288 seats in the state's local councils.
"They should be grateful that they got eight seats instead of zero," Teng said.
The Selangor Trade and Industries councillor, however, did defend Amanah against attacks from Selangor PAS secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman, who said it would not recognise the splinter party.
"That's just (PAS) being emotional. Recognition for council members come from the law, which is more supreme," Teng said.
